i went to watch people vote this morning, then at around 6pm went to watch them count too. i've never ever been interested in this sort of thing but for some reason watching people open enveloppes and saying "Royal" "Sarkozy" "Royal" "Bayrou" "Le Pen" "Sarkozy" "Ni-ho...Ni-hoo..Nihooouuss?" was fun.
to vote, all you had to do was take a blue envel. then take a paper with the candidate's name on it, go into the little booth & put it in. then you go to the big see-through box where you show them your voting card, one guy goes:
"Mme ______ "
Then the other one goes:
"a voté!"
and pulls the funny stick thing and in goes the vote.
people found out i was australian and insisted that i take a blue voting envelope to keep as a souvenir.
When I left the counting, the table i was watching had 103 for Royal and 100 for Sarkozy then no one else above 65 which apparently was "pas du tout surprenant" (according to the scary guy next to me who was also really excited about the 90,3% turn out.)

Second round's on the 6th of may right?
