elections...

i went to watch people vote this morning, then at around 6pm went to watch them count too. i've never ever been interested in this sort of thing but for some reason watching people open enveloppes and saying "Royal" "Sarkozy" "Royal" "Bayrou" "Le Pen" "Sarkozy" "Ni-ho...Ni-hoo..Nihooouuss?" was fun.
to vote, all you had to do was take a blue envel. then take a paper with the candidate's name on it, go into the little booth & put it in. then you go to the big see-through box where you show them your voting card, one guy goes:
"Mme ______ "
Then the other one goes:
"a voté!"
and pulls the funny stick thing and in goes the vote.
people found out i was australian and insisted that i take a blue voting envelope to keep as a souvenir.
When I left the counting, the table i was watching had 103 for Royal and 100 for Sarkozy then no one else above 65 which apparently was "pas du tout surprenant" (according to the scary guy next to me who was also really excited about the 90,3% turn out.)

Second round's on the 6th of may right?

frog head + frog arms = walking frog head

last week i saw la maladie imaginaire with a director who really likes tim burton, they played the music from the corpse bride just before the play & during & everyone was dressed up like someone from a nightmare before christmas or the corpse bride. when i first realised i thought it was a ridiculously lame idea *but* in the end it kinda worked well.

today we dissected frogs. several frogs. several different parts of frogs. moving frogs!
first, the teachers handed out the lower half of the frog and everybody had fun pulling on the different nerves to watch the frog's legs kick about, one girl thought the best way to move her frog around was by grabbing it by it's spinal cord. jumping frog.
then, we had to get the hypophyse out of the frog's head so the teachers handed out frog heads attached to frogs arms.
frog head + frog arms = walking frog head.
*shudder* so after the arms we had to cut the jaw off too. our frog was holding it's jaw shut and we kept hitting nerves that made the jaw open and close and the eyes move about.... ahhhh.
i really don't mind dissecting things when they're no longer alive, but when it's as though they're trying to escape and they're still moving their eyes! ah yes and when they ran out of frogs they went to the fridge and got this big bag of live frogs, went into a little room and came out with twitching bleeding frogs.
the end.

next saturday's my birthday and i'll be OLD! i also have no idea what to do, where to go :-/ help!

latelatelate

heh, well, after 2 months of being not only on time but at least 15 minutes early every morning, i arrived really late yesterday and today. yesterday morning, the boy who usually takes me to school slept in & so didn't turn up and this morning i had to take the bus and was too lazy to wake up early & just assumed the later bus would get me there on time. i assumed wrongly. so i got to school 25 mins late and decided to go to my physics td during the halfway pause. when pause time came i decided that it'd be completely useless coming in half way and that i'd just be better off getting the correction off someone later. perhaps i should've gone, but then i wouldn't be in the library typing about the strange and boring details of my morning (& my yesterday morning) for everyone to read and go "poor sarey" at.
yes, keeping in contact with friendsies beats physics any day.
the christmas markets start next friday, ppl keep telling me how pretty they'll look. i believe them; yesterday, when wondering around toulouse i saw some of the christmas stuff they've been putting up. pretty pretty. i think i'll take some photos for everyone to see.

time to go look at everyone else's ljs before going to chemistry.

ok, so i lied. i said i'd post lots of things on livejournal once i actually got to france.
I'll start by putting up a few photos from the caen/paris adventure (3 nights in caen + 1 night in paris). this might not be so useful as they might be the same as some of marjorie's so hopefully no one minds seeing a few of them again.

at the train station while waiting for rai & mc

caen...

...at night. it was halloween so there were a few funnily dressed ppl & many funnily dressed restaurants & clubs. we actually saw quite a few things that night... bar-hopping cluzel look-a-like, a resto/cafe "miam miam glou glou"... ooh and many cwepewies (that all shut before we could decide on one.)

dinner chez raisin - this was our 2nd dinner, spaghetti + a tomato/zucchini sauce. *no* carrots. The 1st night we had squice! squice and chicken tendon!

<img height="188" alt="" width="250" src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/hausnhart/DSCF1743.jpg" a glaring mc in the train.

bayeux tapestry (or embroidery....w/e)

pretty restaurant in bayeux. when we left the train station there was this giant sign saying "ENGLISH GUIDED TOURS" for the d-day beaches so we went and signed ourselves up. the excited little man who runs the tours, after showing us how cool his tour was, told us we'd have enough time to visit the carpets. this restaurant was on the way & we had enough time to eat galettes & crepes for lunch.
<img height="188" alt="" width="250" src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/hausnhart/DSCF1806.jpg"
it'd be very useful being 18 but because i'm not i'll just have to keep waiting for my student visa to be approved. i hope i get it in time. all you old(er) people can get your visas in max. 2 weeks because they can do it all in sydney while all my documents are floating around france. *glare* i also had to be injected TWICE with funny vaccines (that aren't even effective at my age) because being 17 and all i'll be spreading disease among the french. because once you turn 18 none of it matters.
*S I G H *
i suuppposssee i understand though, all these extra things are aimed at young ones going to lycées or collèges and not unis.at least i've found somewhere to stay now.

i wonder if we'll miss kangaroos?
